The Games Week-14

We’ve made it all the way to Rivalry Weekend where you’ll get a chance to watch some teams going head-to-head that have been competing for over 100 years. Washington State plays at Washington for the Apple Cup on Friday-an in-state rivalry that has been going on since 1900; On Saturday Alabama takes on Auburn in the Iron Bowl-a rivalry that started in 1893; Ohio State will play Michigan in what is simply known as “The Game,” while Georgia will take on Georgia Tech in a rivalry game that has been taking place since 1893 known as the, “Good Old Fashion Hate.” Then there’s Notre Dame on the road at Stanford to play for “The Legends Trophy,” Arizona at Arizona State for the “Duel in the Desert,” and the “Civil War” game between Oregon State at Oregon in a rivalry that got started in 1894, and so many others.

The first rivalry game of the week will take place on Thursday, November 28th, between Ole Miss who will go on the road to take on Mississippi State in what is known as the “Egg Bowl.” First played in 1901, it is the tenth longest uninterrupted rivalry series with the winner awarded possession of the Golden Egg Trophy. There’s going to be five Top-25 head-to-head match-ups this weekend with No. 19 Cincinnati at No. 18 Memphis on Friday, November 29th, at 12:30pm on ABC; No. 1 Ohio State at No. 13 Michigan on Saturday, November 30th, at 9:00am on FOX; No. 5 Alabama at No. 15 Auburn at 12:30pm on CBS; No. 12 Wisconsin at No. 8 Minnesota at 12:30pm on ABC; and No. 7 Oklahoma at No. 21 Oklahoma State at 5:00pm on FOX.  In addition, there’s one last game that will finally put to bed the PAC-12 South for good.  Colorado travels to Salt Lake City to take on No. 6 Utah at 4:30pm on ABC. If Utah wins they’ll represent the South in the PAC-12 Conference Championship Game against Oregon, if they lose it will be the USC Trojans.
