2022 PAC-12 Week-2 Eastern Washington at Oregon

Wow-it sure didn’t take Oregon long to put the Georgia debacle behind them in an almost total destruction of Eastern Washington 70-14. Scoring a TD every time they touched the ball in the first half, the Ducks were up 14-0 after the 1st Qtr and 42-7 at the break. The demolition continued in the second half as they scored four more in a row—one courtesy of an Eastern Washington fumble returned to the house. By the end of the 3rd Qtr they were up 63-14, adding one more in the 4th for good measure.

Oregon QB Bo Nix seemed like a man-on-a-mission connecting on 85% of his passes for 277 yards and 5 TD’s with no interceptions. The Ducks were almost as lethal on the ground rushing 48 times for 263 yards and four more scores. Eastern Washington QB Senior Gunner Talkington connected on 12-of-21 for 87 yards, 2 TD’s and 2 picks while they rushed 28 times for an even 100 yards. Oregon outpaced the Eagles in first downs, 40-11; total yards, 604-107; time of possession by almost 18 minutes; and in 3rd and 4th downs conversions completing them 70% and 100% of the time respectively.

This certainly had to feel a whole lot better than last week, but when the high wears off I think a blow-out against a way over-matched team won’t completely erase Week-1’s loss to the Bull-Dogs. Something that could help would be a victory against a Top-25 BYU next week at home. I’m sure they can hardly wait.
