Bowl season was due to begin with the Tropical Smoothie Café Frisco Bowl on December 19 and conclude with the College Football Playoff National Championship game on January 11th. However, a number of bowls, including the Frisco Bowl have been canceled. There were 43 bowl games scheduled for the 2020/2021 post season but by December 7th that number had already been reduced to 33 with the Holiday Bowl, the Las Vegas Bowl, and the Sun Bowl being just a few on the list of casualties.
For the first times teams will not need to have a 0.500 record to be eligible but as far as the Pac-12 team goes the conference has set an internal qualification that requires all teams to have a record at or above .500 to be considered for a spot in a bowl game. Seven Pac-12 programs have opted out of the postseason along with six from the ACC. Two teams, Colorado and Oregon, are eligible out of the Pac-12 and will play.
